The company started in 1924 from a small personal business of automotive supplies and liquid fuels founded by Nikolaos I. Theocharakis in Piraeus. The management of the company, from Nikolaos Theocharakis, then passed to his sons, Yiannis and Vassilis Theoharakis, while now the reins of management have passed to Takis Theoharakis.
The company’s most important milestone was the start of its partnership with Nissan in 1961. This was also the first official Nissan Motor Co. dealership. in Europe and one of the first worldwide.

Another important milestone in the company’s history was the foundation of the car assembly plant in Volos in 1980 (TEOKAR SA). This model project was a point of reference, not only for Nik. I. Theocharakis SA, but more broadly for the reception and appreciation of the automobile in our country. The operation of the factory consolidated Nissan’s successful presence in the Greek car market and led it to the first place in sales among all car companies for a long period, from 1981 to 1993. From the beginning of the factory’s operations until 1995 more than 170,000 cars were assembled.

From there, many important things followed: In 1989, the milestone of the production of 100,000 cars at the factory in Volos. In 1994 the foundation of the model Car Spare Parts Distribution and Training Center in Aspropyrgos – staff training has been a constant pursuit since the foundation of the company. In 2015 the achievement of 600,000 sales of new Nissan cars in Greece.

Beginning of 2023, Nik. I. Theocharakis SA, faithful to its commitment to the protection of the environment, completed a large investment of photovoltaic complexes in its facilities in Athens, Aspropyrgos and Kalochori, Thessaloniki, promoting and strengthening environmental awareness, as an integral part of its culture. With this investment in photovoltaic panels, the company covers a percentage that now reaches 80% of its existing energy needs, aiming for 100% in the near future.

The Group through the companies NIK.I.THEOHARAKIS S.A. and THEOHARAKIS SA, in addition to representing Nissan, is successfully active in the marketing of a wide range of products, such as: Japanese YOKOHAMA tires (since 1957), SUZUKI outboard engines (since 1982), agricultural tractors and harvesters SAME & DEUTZ-FAHR machines (since 1978), Green Machines electric sweepers, KENDA and LASSA tires, BMC big trucks, JAC trucks, REGIS electric light trucks, ADDAX electric light trucks, VMF car batteries, accessories lubricants and WYNN’S chemical products, PERMATEX chemical-cleaners, as well as other products.
