With dozens of tractors and an escort of police forces, they are expected to “parade” her Tuesday at the Constitution the farmers, in the big rally they have organized, asking for more measures on production costs from the government.

According to estimates, at least 130 tractors are gathered in Boiotia Castle and Megara, which will be moved on Tuesday in a coordinated manner to the center of Athens. According to the program, there will be a rally in Omonia and from there, at approximately 6:30 in the afternoon, they will “parade” towards the Syntagma and the Greek parliamentin order to protest.

The government, for its part, does not seem willing to give anything more to the farmers, repeating at every opportunity that there is no more fiscal space for further benefits. Both the government representative, Pavlos Marinakisin the editors’ briefing, as well as the prime minister, in his interview with STAR, emphasized that “we have nothing more to give to the farmers”, sending a clear message ahead of tomorrow’s rally.

“We have nothing more to give. And I think that the farmers also recognize this and know very well that already the government probably exceeded the limits of their expectations, especially in the issue of electricity. Consequently, I think it will be a mobilization which will have a character, I would say, of escalation of mobilizations and I believe that after that things will return to their rhythm. Besides, the sowing season also begins. We want the farmers back in their fields, the ranchers to be with their animals. But, this discussion does not stop now. It doesn’t mean – and I’ll say it again – because the farmers will turn back that we’ve closed this chapter, ugh, we’ll breathe a sigh of relief and then move on. No, there are structural issues that will concern us for a long time to come,” emphasized Mr Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The plan of the police for the “landing” of the farmers in Athens

Traffic regulations on the central roads of Athens will be in effect tomorrow, Tuesday, due to the planned gathering of farmers in the early afternoon.

Specifically, according to the traffic information:

Due to the upcoming gathering – protest of farmers on Tuesday, February 20 in the center of Athens, the Hellenic Police has drawn up and will implement an integrated network of measures for the orderly and safe conduct of the mobilizations.

The central axis of the design was to ensure the fundamental right of citizens to assemble, without unduly disrupting the social and economic life of the city.

In this context, traffic measures adapted to the situation will be taken with the corresponding traffic regulations, so that the movement of the farmers can be carried out safely for them and other users of the road network, all the way from the periphery to the center of Athens.

In particular, the movement of the agricultural tractors will be accompanied by patrol cars of the Hellenic Police with a specific route both from the Castle of Boiotia and from Megara Attica, where they are expected to gather before the transition to Athens. At the same time, so that there is no additional traffic burden, the buses that will transport farmers have been planned to park at the Olympic Stadium. Due to the measures, modifications are also expected to be made to the routes and stops of the means of transport (Buses – Trolley).
