The Educational Robotics program foresees 800 robotics educational packages that will be distributed to 100 Primary Schools in the Attica Region
Visit to the 70th Primary School of Athens, one of the 100 schools of the capital selected in order to implement the Robotics pilot programwhich is sponsored by the Region of Attica, was held by the governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias.
The Educational Robotics program provides 800 robotics training packs (8 per school unit) which will be distributed to 100 Primary Schools of the Attica Region, together with the relevant software, in order to conduct special courses, in the form of standard seminars.
Specialist staff will train overall 100 professorof the schools participating in the program, through educational seminars, of a total duration of 15 hours each.
The total training hours amount to 1,500 hourswhile during the program, 4 special educational workshops-seminars, lasting 60 minutes each, are planned for each school unit.
The governor of Attica took a tour of the school classrooms and talked to the teachers and students, highlighting the impact of new technologies on the educational process.
“In the era of Artificial Intelligence, the big challenge – but also the big responsibility for us – is how to improve equal access and quality in education, how to bridge the gaps, so that education meets the needs of our students more effectively and how we will provide our children with as many supplies as possible in a world that is constantly changing”, noted Mr. Hardalias. He added: “Therefore, digital transformation in education is not an option, but a necessity.”
The governor of Attica handed over eight educational packages to the teachers and participated with the children in the assembly of the robotic construction.
As Mr. Hardalias stated, the use of new technologies empowers education on three levels. “It empowers learning, creative and critical thinking. It promotes interactivity, collaboration and communication between students. It helps children develop new skills, preparing them for a future where technology will be ubiquitous,” he emphasized.
