Four gang members, who committed burglaries in houses in Ekali and Nea Erythrea, were arrested, in Kifissia, by Immediate Action police officers. Against the arrestees, aged 23, 26, 29 and 37 years, a case file was filed by the North-Eastern Attica Security Sub-Directorate, as the case may be, for forming a gang, aggravated theft, recklessness, dangerous driving and attempted murder.

Earlier, according to the Police, the defendants went to a house in Ekali with the gang’s “business car”, in which they had placed license plates that they had stolen from a woman’s vehicle. After breaking the balcony door, they broke into the house and removed a lot of jewelry.

During their escape, however, they were spotted by police officers from the DIAS Group and called for a check. The driver then sped up, making dangerous maneuvers, while the police officers who were reinforced with additional Immediate Action forces followed the perpetrators’ vehicle, constantly calling the driver to stop the vehicle using a beacon and sound signals.

Then, in order to avoid arrest, the driver entered the opposite flow of traffic, on the main road of Kifissia. The perpetrators’ vehicle collided with a car, while a policeman, who got off his motorcycle, asked the perpetrators to stop, with the driver ignoring the orders and acting threateningly towards the policemen.

Then, a police officer shot a wheel of the vehicle, while the assailants abandoned the car and tried to run away, but were arrested.

Part of the stolen goods was found in their possession, which was attributed to the victim.

The arrested were taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens.
