The unemployment rate in the country was 11% in February this year, compared to a downwardly revised 11.2% in February 2023 and an upwardly revised 10.6% in January 2024.

The unemployed reached 524,428 people, a decrease of 283 people compared to February 2023 (0.1%) and an increase of 18,733 people compared to January 2024 (3.7%).

The unemployment rate for women rose to 14.2% from 15.2% in February last year and for men to 8.4% from 8%.

By major age groups, in the 15-24 year group the unemployment rate rose to 25% from 27.6% in February 2023 and in the 25-74 age group to 10.3% from 10.2%.

Also according to the ELSTAT labor force survey, the employed amounted to 4,228,417 people, marking an increase of 76,736 people compared to February 2023 (1.8%) and a decrease of 38,712 people compared to January 2024 (0, 9%).

Meanwhile, people under the age of 75 not in the labor force, or “people outside the labor force” (those not working or looking for work), amounted to 3,034,624 people, a decrease of 97,400 people compared to February 2023 (3.1%) and an increase of 17,617 people compared to January 2024 (0.6%).
