For his candidacy as an MEP with the “Niki” party the Seismology professor and director of the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens spoke this morning to SKAI and to the program “Mismatches” Akis Tselentis. The MEP candidate commented that “the people are hungry and we say that the country is doing well” and initially referred to the fact that funds are not allocated to upgrade schools and protect them from earthquakes at a time when, as he said, there are many “ruin” schools.

“I have fought terribly for the schools. I have highlighted over 80 school ruins” he said emphasizing that “we are lucky that we don’t lose students because the earthquakes happen when the classrooms are not full”.

“On the other hand, countries that do not have seismicity, such as Belgium, France, Norway, receive funds to upgrade schools and we do not claim anything” he added.

As he said, several temples are facing the same problem. Regarding green energy, Mr. Tselentis said that “we put panels for green energy and when the earthquake happens we don’t know what’s happening inside”.
