EYDAP gives advice to consumers to avoid unnecessary waste of water
Series of measures to limit the waste of water urges the EYDAP to be adopted by consumers, with the aim of preserving the available stocks and dealing with the challenges created by the heat conditions in the Attica region.
EYDAP lists a series of simple tips for the judicious use and avoidance of unnecessary waste of water:
- Avoid washing balconies and terraces with the hose, especially in the afternoon.
- Fix leaky faucets or cisterns. About 1 liter of water is lost every 10 minutes from dripping taps.
- Water your balcony plants and flowers during the morning or evening hours (after 10 p.m.) and preferably with a watering can, when the temperatures are lower and the water does not evaporate.
- Turn off the tap when bathing, brushing teeth, shaving or washing dishes.
- Only operate the dishwasher or washing machine when it is full and preferably in the evening hours (after 10:00 p.m.).
- Choose the lowest consumption level in the cisterns.
- Use water collected from the air conditioner or dehumidifier to water potted plants.
- Take a shower instead of filling the tub.
“By adopting these measures, we can contribute to the preservation of this precious resource and to the fairer distribution of water resources, especially in hot seasons when water consumption increases significantly” is pointed out in a statement by EYDAP.
At the same time, EYDAP takes all the necessary actions and investments so that all the residents of Attica have uninterrupted access to water, but in extraordinary circumstances, such as the heat wave, the contribution of consumers is also required.
“It is the responsibility of all of us to use water responsibly and respectfully to ensure a sustainable future” concludes the company’s announcement.
