After the successful restoration of its service in Thessaloniki last month, Lime announces the start of its operation in the Athenian Riviera, specifically in the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmenis.

The Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmeni will be the first of the Municipalities of the Athenian Riviera that Lime begins its cooperation with the aim of ensuring the best possible operation of the service of shared electric skates in the region.

The relevant memorandum of cooperation between Lime and the Municipality was signed earlier today by the Mayor Mr. Grigoris Constantellos and the Operations Manager for Greece Mr. Stefanos Nastos.

The Mayor, Mr. Constantellos, said in this regard, “We welcome to our city the company Lime, a company recognized internationally in the field of alternative – green transportation. We invite our fellow citizens to discover the movement with electric skates, a form of urban mobility with zero pollution, but making the observance of safety rules and correct road behavior an immediate priority. I wish everyone good – “green” commuting with absolute emphasis on safety”.

For his part, Mr. Nastos, Lime’s Operations Manager in Greece said: “Lime is excited to be back in Athens and to reopen under these exceptional conditions.

In fact, the cooperation with the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmeni and the Municipal Authorities sets the highest standards.

At Lime, we strongly believe that the best possible integration of service into the public realm is achieved when we work closely with the city to have clear guidance on operating zones, enhancing the availability, reliability and quality of service we provide.

We are very pleased to be able to offer residents a zero-carbon mobility option and hope to see great uptake of the service in the area.”

Lime’s collaboration with the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmeni foresees an agreement on the way the service is operated and managed, so that the use of electric skates is done safely and with respect for the rest of the citizens.

Launching in the southern suburbs, Lime aspires not only to enhance short commutes with convenient, zero-emission transportation options through its app, but also to become part of the daily lives of residents and visitors.

How to use the Lime skate?

For those who have never ridden a Lime electric scooter before, below are the basic steps to start a Lime ride: Locate a Lime scooter on the map via the app or on the street. If you have located the skate on the map, press “Hold” to hold it until you reach where it is. When you get close to the selected skate: If one-touch launch is available, you’ll see a “Start Track” option on the screen.

If you don’t see the Start Route option, you can tap the Scan to Start button and scan the QR code on the skate to start your route. Enjoy your ride. When your ride is nearing its end, you must park your Lime skate carefully, respecting pedestrians and other road users. Thanks to Lime’s unique partnership with Uber, Lime’s electric scooters will also be available for booking through the Uber app, offering users of the platform in the Municipality of Vari-Voulas-Vouliagmenis another opportunity to get around easily, comfortably and sustainably.

Users of Uber’s platform can view available Lime electric scooters directly from within the app, making it easier than ever to choose a means of micromobility.

Finally, to celebrate its launch in the southern suburbs, Lime will offer 50% off 5 rides to all riders in Athens until June 30, 2024.

To take advantage of the offer, riders simply need to enter the discount code LIMEISBACKAT in the ‘discount code’ field on the Lime app. In the coming days, Lime’s electric skates will also be available in the Municipality of Piraeus.
