130 buildings were inspected – Of the 78 residences, 34 were deemed to be demolished
Since yesterday Tuesday, the ranks of the General Directorate for Rehabilitation of the Effects of Natural Disasters (GDAEFK) of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection were in the field and carried out checks and autopsies on building infrastructure in areas of Northern and Eastern Attica after the August 11 fires.
Specifically, the GDAEFK levels were activated, under the guidance of the General Secretariat for Natural Disaster Recovery and State Aid, with more than 60 engineers and autopsies were carried out in 8 Municipalities of Attica, having already covered most of the areas affected by the fires.
In particular, the autopsies of the GDAEFK levels took place in fire-affected areas of the municipalities of Vrilissi, Dionysos, Marathon, Pallini, Penteli, Rafina-Pikermio, Chalandrio and Oropos, in a context of close cooperation with the municipalities, as the visits and autopsies are based in guidance and information from the executives of the Local Government Organizations.
In total, so far, in the above Municipalities of Attica, 130 autopsies have been carried out in buildings, of which 112 in residences, 13 in warehouses, 2 in public buildings and 3 in business premises.
From these autopsies it has emerged that 78 houses are characterized as unfit for use and demolishable (“red”) and temporarily unfit for use requiring repair work (“yellow”), with the distribution in the two categories being 34 and 44 respectively. The total number of buildings in these two categories amounts to 92, including, in addition to residences, warehouses and other spaces. Also, 38 buildings, residences and warehouses, are characterized as suitable for use (“green”) with some – possibly – light damages.
The autopsies will continue from the levels of the GDAEFK in the following days in Attica, in a context of close cooperation with the Municipalities, which collect the requests of the citizens.
Finally, it should be noted that as of today, Wednesday, August 14, the State Aid Committees of the Attica Region are in the field and are conducting autopsies on businesses, having recorded, so far, 22 cases of businesses affected by the fire. The work of the State Aid Committees of the Attica Region will continue in the coming days with the same intensive pace.
