A 45-year-old doctor, father of 4 children, lost his life unjustly today in a traffic accident on the Lamia – Domokou road, at the Lamia junction.
The 45-year-old surgeon of the Lamia hospital had finished his shift and was driving his motorbike on the road to Lamia, heading towards the national road.
At the junction of Lamia, a farm car with an 82-year-old driver tried to cross the road vertically, as a result of which the machine the 45-year-old surgeon was riding in fell with force onto the farm.
The 45-year-old could not avoid the fatal accident, as the road is downhill at that point, and after the impact in the rural area he “took off” and fell several meters away.
Unfortunately, although he was wearing a helmet, the crash and fall was so severe that he lost his life.
The doctors at the Lamia hospital couldn’t believe their eyes, as a few minutes before their colleague had said goodbye to them, ending his shift.
It is characteristic that in the last 3 years this is the third accident that has occurred at the exact same spot, in exactly the same way and for the same reason, namely the attempt of cars to cross the Lamia-Domokos road vertically. In all three cases the victims were young cyclists.
