Mask remains mandatory on planes and boarding areas, even in states that do not use it

by

Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) said that municipal or state decrees dispensing with the use of masks do not affect the rules established by the agency at airports.

In this way, the use of a mask remains mandatory in controlled access areas of airports, such as the boarding area, and also on aircraft. The rule applies to travelers and workers.

The regulatory agency argues that in this area there is a concentration of people from different origins, with different epidemiological profiles, transmission rates and vaccination coverage.

“It is a measure to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19, especially because these are environments where it is not possible to maintain physical distance”, he clarified in a note.

Where access is not controlled, such as in the airport lounge and parking lots, the use of face masks must follow the recommendations of local authorities.

States and municipalities have begun to relax the use of masks in the country. Rio de Janeiro has already put an end to the use of mask even in closed environments. Bars and restaurants are also gearing up for a nationwide movement to end masks.

The city of Rio de Janeiro, on Monday (7), became the first capital in the country to exempt the use of masks in closed places. In the state, Duque de Caxias also allowed the use in open and closed areas.

In Santa Catarina, ChapecĂ³ and Rio do Sul overturned the requirement.

As of this Wednesday (9), the use of a mask is no longer mandatory in open spaces in the state of SĂ£o Paulo, including public and private schools.
