A strong earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred at 19:03 in the region of Halkidiki, while it was felt both in Thessaloniki and Larissa.

According to reports, the earthquake was particularly felt as far as Thessaloniki, but also in the wider area, causing great concern to residents, especially in the areas of Halkidiki that are close to the epicenter.
Four minutes later, at 7:07 p.m., a strong aftershock of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale occurred, with an epicenter slightly displaced 11 kilometers southwest of Nei Moudania and a focal depth of 8.3 kilometers, according to the preliminary assessment of the Geodynamic Institute .
Four other smaller aftershocks followed.
According to the seismologist Gerasimos Papadopoulos, who spoke to SKAI 100.3the area does not have a special seismic potential and he noted that there had been two other smaller earthquakes in the previous days.
No damage or injuries were reported
No problems have been reported from the earthquake tremors that occurred in the afternoon in Halkidiki and were felt in Thessaloniki and throughout Central Macedonia, the director of Civil Protection of the Central Macedonia Region, Charalambos Stergiadis, told APE-MPE.

It should be noted that last Thursday at 01:23 after midnight, a 3.9 Richter earthquake was recorded from the same epicenter, 14 km south southwest of Nei Moudania, in the maritime area.
