The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, signed the Presidential Decree defining the “Establishment of the Directorate of Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Attica (DDEEA) and the Directorate of Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes of Thessaloniki (DDEETH)”, following the formation of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the structural and organizational changes that occurred.

As announced by the Ministry of Citizen Protection: “This specific Presidential Decree provides for the renaming of the Attica and Thessaloniki Security Directorates, to Attica and Thessaloniki Crime Investigation and Prosecution Directorates, respectively, and defines the rank of their Directors and their assistants. At the same time, it defines the details for the organization of the Greek Police services, but also the reorganization-reorganization, establishment and operation of the regional services of the Greek Police”.

In particular, the DDEAA is a new, smaller and flexible organizational structure replacing the Attica Security Directorate, which is structured as follows:

a. Staff,

b. Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors,

c. Sub-Directorate for Combating Racist and Extremist Violence,

d. Subdirectorate of Searches, Archives and Identities,

e. Department of Direct Intervention against Drugs,

f. Security Operations Center (SOC).

Accordingly, the DDEETH is structured as follows:

a. Staff,

b. Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Minors,

c. Sub-Directorate for Combating Racist and Extremist Violence,

d. Sub-Directorate of Special Operational Actions

e. Subdirectorate of Searches, Archives and Identities.

Finally, the announcement states that “The PD “brings” legal and technical improvements, but also organizational changes to the above Services. In fact, in order to harmonize, twenty-nine Security Sub-Directorates are renamed, as well as one hundred and twenty-seven Security Departments, which operate throughout the territory.”
