The father of the 12-year-old boy who was trapped by older high school students in a well at the school, in Nea Ionia, explained how the event happened and expressed his concern over the fact that he was not immediately informed of the serious incident.

“The group that lured him away were third-year high school students, unknown children who were absent from school. The kid wasn’t pushed in, he was dragged in with a 5 euro which the older kids told him fell in. They didn’t push it,” he said speaking to ERT.

“The manhole grate was open and the child got in, Some say my child opened the manhole[…] the child is too small, he can’t even lift two bags of tomatoes. So the child entered inside, lured by these children,” he explained.

He then underlined that “what really bothers us is the fact that the parents were not informed. That is to say, from 10:30 our update happened by chance, and I took it as a calamity of my older son 14:15 who came here, then when the little one came then we really fell from the clouds”.

He also stated that he has not spoken to, nor does he want to speak to, the other children’s parents and the school and that he has filed a lawsuit and charges have been filed.

“I would like to please turn our attention to the fact that these illegal acts must cease to exist for the good of Greek education[…]said the boy’s father.
