Another major blow against smuggling was achieved by customs inspectors of the Independent Inland Revenue Authority, with the detection of cocaine worth more than 2.3 million. euros inside a container with bananas, coming from a South American country and final destination Piraeus.

In particular, inspectors of the 3rd Customs of Piraeus, after conducting a local risk analysis, using an algorithm, impounded the suspicious container. A check followed in sequence:

  • x-ray, where a suspicious organic substance was detected in the refrigeration machinery of the container,
  • of the drug and fluid detection dog MAX, with a positive indication.

Subsequently, customs inspectors located and seized 50 packages containing a narcotic substance (cocaine), gross weight about 51 kg.

The audit success is the result of coordinated actions of the AADE with the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Organized Crime Directorate, the Coast Guard and the Attica SDOE.
