Further police investigation revealed their involvement in other fraud, on the same pretext, which were held at least last February, in various parts of Thessaloniki. They – who had the role of the “collector” and lived in hotels during their stay in Greece – are accused of getting money from their elderly victims, jewelry and gold pounds, totaling 70,290 euros.
According to the case file, they acted as members of a criminal group, involving at least six members (other doctors and others the alleged injured relatives of the sufferers), while delivering “booty” to their associates in Bulgaria. The expected economic benefit of this criminal group exceeds 310,000 euros, according to the same case file.
The two detainees (30 and 25 years old) were referred to apologize to the Thessaloniki investigative authorities- and in the case of the 75-year-old they will be tried by the city’s three-member Criminal Court.
