With the presence of the Prime Minister Kyriakou Mitsotakis The inauguration of the New Patras-Pyrgos highway.
Tomorrow, the 65 kilometers of the new road will be released, which opens the door to the new era for road safety in the area, in a part of the National Network, which did not meet modern needs.
Watch the video from the inauguration of the highway and the lectures of the Prime Minister and the factors:
“Today we are closing a pending past and correct an injustice against western Greece citizens,” the prime minister said in his speech, adding that other emblematic roads would proceed, “such as those of Amvrakia, Fly Over and of course BOAK”.
“Today we have to remember all those who are not with us because the Greek state has delayed for decades to offer a modern and safe highway that did not finish their 30s and died on the old road.”
More specifically the speech of Kyriakos Mitsotakis:
“Today, on behalf of the whole of Western Greece, as well as the southern islands of the Ionian Islands, we close a pendulum, which comes from the deep past and correct a timeless injustice, which so much shattered and distressed the citizens of Western Greece. And today it is a day of joy, satisfaction, emotion, and responsibility for what must be done from now on.
This road, it has suffered us a lot of time “and continued:” I remember when I first found myself in Ilia in a pre -election speech in Pyrgos in 2019 and then committed the commitment that we would unravel the tangle of this very problematic contractor, And with a great effort to all those who were in the leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, from ministers to officials, we are now pleased to see this very beautiful road, where we will be officially released tomorrow at 12:00 pm November. Then the last part will be delivered to complete this important motorway, for passenger safety, transportation of transport, and its importance to the primary sector.
I was thinking that behind the statistics and the numbers that the concessionaire would see and count, many unique human stories will hide and hide, and he added: “The farmer, who will have to start a day in the early morning or early morning, to go here in the morning or the night. who will come from Athens in the direction of Kyllini to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Ilia, or to head to the Ionian Islands, namely Kefalonia and Zakynthos, our Air Force pilots, who will wake them up and wake them up and wake them up to them. All of them will now feel that they will be able to use a road, not just fast, but first and foremost safe.
Today, if we can say something and if I can add something to everything that has been said is to remember those who are not with us today, because the Greek state has delayed decades to offer a modern and safe road to this beautiful area of our country. Aspasia and George, Eleftheria, Alexander, Yiannis, who did not even decline in their 30s, Nikolitsa, little Dimitris who did not live their first dreams. These are just some names of our fellow citizens who lost their lives on the old road, who had so much linked to a past, that I believe that we all want to leave behind.
So again I would like to thank all the leaderships of the Ministry of Infrastructure from 2019, as well as our excellent construction companies, which under the guidance of the concessionaire managed and did what seemed extremely difficult until a few months ago.
It is the best proof that we have a dynamic construction industry, where 6,000 people have worked in this project. This construction industry can accomplish significantly, difficult, complex technical projects and we have launched much more to our homeland and why not expand abroad and give good jobs to thousands of our fellow citizens. The smiles we have seen at all three workers’ stations are the best proof, how much satisfaction they get first and above all those who worked so that we can today be here and enjoy this important work.
Our minds will permanently run to the next challenges, namely how this road will reach not only ancient Olympia, but to Tsakona and what we need to do so that we can achieve the best possible funding, possibly expanding the concession contract or any other tool.
