Memorandum of Understanding for the Mystreet Digital Platform was signed between the Ministry of Digital Governance, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, KEDE and the University of Patras.
The aim of the Mystreet platform is to record and remove obstacles in the public space, to facilitate accessibility and to protect people with disabilities or other obstructed citizens in normal but also in danger conditions from fires or natural phenomena. At the same time, a separate memorandum was signed between the Ministry of Digital Governance and the Foundation for Technology and Research. The Memorandums of Cooperation were signed at an event by the Ministry of Digital Government: “Access for All – Digital Solutions with a Human Face”, at the ministry’s booth at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition.
According to figures presented at the event, 27% of adult Europeans have some form of disability, ie 101m in Europe. 40.5 % of young people with severe disability live in conditions of poverty and social isolation. Children with disabilities in Europe reach 11 million in our country the percentage of adults with disabilities is less than the European average, about 22.2%. However, much less are the beneficiaries of disability pensions, about 105,000 people. 22% percent of the adult Greek population are people with some activity restriction, such as permanent, or even transient mobility difficulties.
These initiatives undertaken by the Government and the Municipalities are intended to record people, as well as vulnerable groups with temporary difficulty, such as health problems at the recovery stage, or others in need of aid in conditions of natural disasters, or accidents. This cooperation ensures the possibility of registering and formal certification. There is a coordination by the relevant municipalities, the registries of members are updated and the statistics of the user are recorded without reporting sensitive personal data, only the place where they could be helped in an emergency.
The user will fill in the form, register the details, the companion as a bargaining person. The Municipality will be able to see the agencies in its territory, manage the bodies and associations and the supervision of people with disabilities, and civil protection will have an image of the individual and what condition has, or how they can be removed to be rescued in the event of a threat, or risk of earthquake, floods.
The pilot implementation started from Patras and the Municipality of Halkidiki, a common intention is to integrate other municipalities to interconnect with the Fire Brigade and then with 112 and to have interoperability with other public administration platforms.
