The Hyundai IONIQ 5 won the World Car Awards 2022, with the purely electric crossover being named World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year and World Car Design of the Year. The results of the World Car Awards were announced at a special ceremony held today at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
IONIQ 5 was awarded by a jury of 102 specialist journalists from 33 countries around the world. The innovative electric vehicle (BEV), which has already won many international awards, competed with 27 competing models released in 2021.
The IONIQ 5 is its first model exclusively for IONIQ brand electric vehicles. Fully utilizes the custom Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) to offer ultra-fast 800 V charging capabilities for 10% to 80% charge in just 18 minutes and an extremely spacious interior. When equipped with two-wheel drive (2WD) and a battery up to 74 kWh, the maximum driving autonomy with a single charge will be 480 km according to the WLTP standard. Its innovative features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, advanced connectivity and driver assistance systems offering the ultimate in-car experience.
