Regarding the possibility of early elections, he emphasized that it is the prime minister’s exclusive prerogative to determine them. In any case, the last year of the government’s term is officially starting and therefore all the electoral work must be done.

The Prime Minister’s statements were referred to by the Minister of the Interior, Makis Voridis, speaking about the possibility of early elections on SKAI TV and the “Today” show.

In particular, he mentioned that Kyriakos Mitsotakis has stated that his wish is for elections to be held at the end of spring 2023, but at the same time he will determine his decisions by whether a strong toxicity develops in the wider dialogue. In any case, he emphasized that the prime minister has the privilege of determining the time of the elections and all the others can only make assessments and discussions.

In any case, he mentioned that the last year of the government’s term is now formally starting and therefore all the electoral work must be done.

ErdoÄŸan’s intervention is unacceptable – does he think the Greeks will be moved?

Regarding the open intervention of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in the internal politics of Greece, the Minister of the Interior emphasized that it is obviously and self-evidently absolutely reprehensible and indecent and that he got the response he needed from the entire political world.
“What I don’t understand is what Mr. Erdogan is trying to achieve in the sense that he thinks he is so popular in Greece, so if he says to vote against Mitsotakis, will the Greek citizens be moved by Erdogan’s appeal? And will they rush to vote against him? I don’t understand both the logic and the expediency”, emphasized Mr. Voridis.
