The war in Ukraine risks “creating long-term instability across the wider region”, warned former Prime Minister George Papandreouattending the ceremony to kick off the 24th Symposium of Symi. The symposium is organized by the Papandreou Foundation, next to the Temple of Poseidon, in Sounio.
The former prime minister emphasized that the discussions at this year’s Symposium concern “the great crisis that Europe and the world are going through now, with the war in Ukraine. This war has great consequences that we are also experiencing in Greece in energy, food, transport.
“We will discuss the consequences of this tragic and senseless invasion in the coming days, because Europe and our country need to make bold decisions for greater self-sufficiency in many areas if we want to shield the future and preserve our democratic achievements”he pointed out.
