The only viable solution is the resumption of talks for the reunification of the island, without guarantees and occupation troops, said the president of PASOK

“An open wound” for Hellenism characterized the continued occupation by Nikos Androulakisin his statement on the 48 years since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

The president’s statement in more detail PASOK:

“48 whole years since the barbaric invasion of “Attila” in Cyprus, the Turkish troops remain in its northern part. On this tragic anniversary, we honor the memory of the victims and the heroic struggle of all those who fought the conqueror.

The continued occupation of the island is an open wound for Hellenism. Any action that tries to perpetuate the results of the illegal Turkish invasion, such as the opening of Varossia, cannot be tolerated by the international community and the European Union.

The only viable solution is the resumption of talks for the reunification of the island, without guarantees and occupation troops, based on the resolutions of the United Nations, ensuring the peaceful coexistence of all Cypriots”.
