Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that the government knows very well that there are fellow citizens who are having a hard time. He reiterated that the government will do everything it can within the framework of the fiscal capacity, in order to support society with an emphasis on the weakest.
The government has made it clear that it will continue to support consumers, households and businesses, so that energy costs remain at an acceptable level, announced Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the start of his regular meeting with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Presidential Palace.
Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that the government knows very well that there are fellow citizens who are having a hard time and, as he reiterated, the government will do everything it can within the framework of its fiscal capacity to support society with an emphasis on the weakest.
The message is that the growth dividend is shared fairly based on the goals we have set, we cannot deviate from the goals we have committed to, he noted.
Referring to the recent Brussels European Council, Mr. Mitsotakis noted that we had reached an important agreement to take more drastic decisions to reduce international energy and natural gas prices and insisted that only the threat of more drastic interventions was taken into account by the markets and this had a positive reflection at European and national level.
“I hope that the European leaders will be able to find solutions and beyond individual interests to think about the collective good, it is important for the European economies and also for the European societies” said the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou referring to the agreement of the European Council.
