At the opening of the Political Academy, the former Minister and Member of Parliament of Chania, Dora Bakoyannis, addressed a greeting.
It was held with great success Political Academy organized by New Democracy at Chaniawhich was attended massively by executives and members of the party from the prefecture of Chania and the whole of Crete.
At the opening of the Political Academy, the former Minister and Member of Parliament of Chania addressed the members and executives of the party Dora Bakoyannisthe deputies of Chania Manousos Voloudakis and Vassilis Digalakisthe Secretary of the Political Committee of the New Democracy Pavlos Marinakisthe Organizing Secretary Stelios Kontadakisthe President of DEEP Chania George Markoulakis and the pr. NEW ONNED Chania Nektarios Tzatzimakis.
Speakers at the Political Academy were the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and the Government Representative Giannis Oikonomouthe Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport George Karagiannisthe Deputy Minister of Tourism Sophia Zacharakisthe Member of Parliament for the Western Sector of Athens and Journalist Yannis Loverdos and the Director of the ND Press Office Nikos Romanos. The Political Academy was coordinated by the member of the Political Committee Harry Papadakis.
THE Secretary of the Political Committee Pavlos Marinakis stated during his placement: “Who would have expected that Greece, as Mrs. Bakoyannis very rightly mentioned, would be the first country in terms of GDP of supporting households and businesses for the energy crisis. Who would have expected, three years later we are talking about decrease by 95% of migration flows, who would have expected in the midst of the pandemic the management model of Greece and one, dissolved by the previous Government, YOU to succeed and have this result and most importantly, to increase the potential of hospitals.
But there is something possibly even more important than successful crisis management. Because beyond the crises, through what New Democracy said before the elections and did after the elections, it was proven who is more efficient, hardworking, capable. This is Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the New Democracy Government. But apart from efficiency and ability, what has been seen through these three and a half years and continues to be seen is something perhaps more important. Who has morals.
Because especially the older ones – and I say this knowing that I am in Chania, addressing Cretans, who understand it very well because you have experienced what I want to say. Some on the Left and Center Left have tried to own progress, social sensitivity, solidarity. Because what did they do all these years that they were out of power?
They put the pensioners out on the street and then cut them off EKAS, disability pensions and widow’s pensions. We who did not do all this, did not put them on the street, did not rank them as “rabbits with petrels”, are bringing the first increases in pensions after years. And apart from the increases, pensions are now paid on time. The “sensitive” SYRIZA our grandparents were given a pension after three, four or even five years.
The “sensitive” SYRIZA who went through his leader to a woman’s house, in an auction that was made by a law voted by SYRIZA itself, which was the one that also legislated electronic auctions and made blocking an auction an idiosyncratic crime. From the 40% of total loans that were “red”, we went to 10%without saying “No house in the hands of a banker».
These “sensitives” do you know how many taxes they raised or imposed on all of us without exception, horizontally? 26 taxes. We reduced over 50. And in fact many of them more than what we had committed to before the elections. We are gradually making a digital revolution, which may sound like a difficult concept to understand, but when 8 million digital transactions with the State become 1 billion, this translates into fewer hours in queues for citizens.
All of this – and I always emphasize this – was done without charging the state and future generations. Because that’s what we younger people paid for. All this was done from development, from tourism from the above revenues. All this shows why we are better, more efficient, more consistent. But they also show that we are not fooling the citizens. That Kyriakos Mitsotakis and New Democracy have done something that others don’t even know what it is: ethics and dignity.
After all, this is what scares them the most. Because they know that if New Democracy and the Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the midst of so many crises that they were called upon to manage and get a big electoral victory, they tremble at the idea of what will happen when we put the crises behind us. Their populism, vulgarity will have no precedent.
I close with the following report, which is no coincidence that it takes place in Chania. In 1993 I was five years old. I don’t remember it, but I know from stories that back then, while our country could take many steps forward, unfortunately lies and populism won. The sequel is known. And even my own generation paid for it.
His vision Konstantinou Mitsotakis it did not continue to be implemented and unfortunately many discovered its consistency and effectiveness after many years.
What we want is to make a difference, and for the consistency and effectiveness and the unprecedented work of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, to be recognized by the Greek citizens in the coming elections. Not because this is our party duty, but because this is our duty to future generations».
The Organizational Secretary Stelios Kontadakis stated among other things: “Through the Political Academies, we aim for our executives to get to know the work of our Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Government, as well as its positions New Republicso that with sympathy, unity, active presence and strong mobility in local communities we can make our members and Civil Societies of our vision for Greece of 2030. We therefore give special importance to the field of training, knowing that knowledge is power, which will help us in the right preparation and lead us to the victorious battle of the next crucial national elections, which the Greek citizens will answer with one vote and three words: Consistency , Continuity, Stability. The triptych that secures society and our Homeland with a self-reliant New Democracy and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis».
The Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Yannis Oikonomou referred to the true stake of the political choice, and the elements that will determine the next electoral process, with regard to the future of the next generations and the continuation of the brave reform effort that has been carried out in the country in recent years 3.5 years from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Giorgos Karagiannis presented in detail the progress of the major infrastructure projects that are being carried out nationwide, placing particular emphasis on Crete and emphasized that “from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport alone and for Crete alone we are launching projects amounting to almost 3.5 billion euros”.
The most emblematic project being implemented on the island is the BOAK, a project that, according to the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, “the Greek state owes to Crete and which had become an obsession of Arta for many years”. A budget project of over 2.2 billion euros where in the coming weeks the first construction sites will begin to be set up and at the end of 2023, beginning of 2024 all the fronts will have opened”.
Regarding the new airport in Kasteli, Mr. Karagiannis announced that “the works exceed 20% of implementation».
The Deputy Minister of Tourism Sophia Zacharakis, referred to the record increase that Greece achieved in tourism for this year, while presenting the key aspects of the plan to strengthen competitiveness and modernize Greek tourism. Special mention was made of the initiatives and strategy for the promotion of special forms of tourism, which emerge as the protagonist of the next day of tourism. As the Deputy Minister pointed out, the special forms hide unique opportunities for development and further qualitative distinction for our country as a tourist destination.
In this context, the Deputy Minister wanted to emphasize the importance of achieving synergies between public and private bodies, recalling the reforms that the Ministry has promoted to facilitate them. Finally, Ms. Zaharaki referred to the issues of tourism education, highlighting its catalytic role in accelerating the successful transformation of Greek hospitality.
The Deputy Minister presented the initiatives and other actions of the Ministry to strengthen the human factor and protect the position of people in the sector, with the emblematic project of training 20,000 unemployed and workers in the tourism sector to be financed by the TAA.
The Member of Parliament Yannis Loverdos referred to the distinct roles of politics and media, while the Director of the ND Press Office Nikos Romanos he referred to the externalization of the work of the Government and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, but also the necessity of deconstructing fake news with the aim of a meaningful political dialogue.
