Elections 2023: The Presidential Decree on the allocation of seats is in the CoE

Which regions are losing and which are gaining seats

The Presidential Decree with the changes in the distribution of parliamentary seats per electoral district, which arose after the 2021 population census, was forwarded to the Council of State for processing.

The Presidential Decree was drawn up by the Directorate of Elections of the Ministry of the Interior, within the schedule set by Minister Makis Voridis.

It is recalled that based on the latest allocation of seats, two seats are won by the Electoral Region of Eastern Attica, while one seat is won by the North, West and South sectors of Athens as well as the 1st Electoral Region of Thessaloniki.

On the contrary, Electoral Regions 1 Athens, 1 Piraeus, Arta, Kozani, Magnesia, Serres, Fthiotida, Thesprotia and Kastoria lose by one seat. In fact, the last two Regions become unicameral.

This distribution also includes the effect of the three seats that are removed from the electoral districts to be added to the State ballot, in order to represent the residents abroad.
