“Career Days”, which bring businesses and jobseekers together, are part of the everyday life of Public Employment Services in Europe,” said the Minister of Labor
“At the Public Employment Service (PYPA) we implement a social policy with results for the unemployed”, emphasized the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, speaking at a special event, in the context of the 14th “Career Day” of the PYPA, in which the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
As Mr. Hatzidakis noted, “Career Days”, which bring businesses and jobseekers together, are part of the daily routine of the Public Employment Services in Europe. For Greece, it is something relatively new, since it only started in September 2021, but it has, however, shown impressive results, as, in a period of 16 months, 700 medium and large enterprises have offered 18,000 positions, while 28,000 unemployed people have come”.
He emphasized that the “Career Days” are a typical example of the transformation of the old OAED. “The new DYPA is digitized and operates with a new logic for the benefits it provides,” noted Mr. Hatzidakis. As he said, the reforms established by the “Jobs Again” law contributed the most to this, such as the work allowance, the introduction of bonus criteria for the payment of DYPA benefits, the system of three offers and three refusals for the offer of jobs.
“Our goal is for DYPA to serve the real unemployed, those who are actively looking for work, and I am very satisfied to see that society has “embraced” this step”, said Mr. Hatzidakis and continued, saying: “We are moving forward not only with them, but also with active employment policies. Rates have multiplied, thanks also to the utilization of resources from the NSRF and the Recovery Fund. Thousands of jobs are created. From 2019 to date, 263,000 additional jobs have been created in the private sector. This did not happen, it succeeded and the contribution of DYPA is decisive, as over 100,000 new jobs have been created, due to the active participation of the Public Employment Service”.
“So we are indeed implementing a social policy with results. We give words to others and move forward with work for businesses, for the unemployed, for all those who need the help of the state”, concluded the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.
