Tayyip Erdogan’s hard line on foreign policy issues such as the Aegean and the Cyprus issue was interpreted by the candidate of the “bloc of six” for the presidential elections Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Asked about his vision for foreign policy, the head of the Kemalist Republican People’s Party (CHP) said: “We won’t no concessions from the national interests of our country in these matters”, referring to hydrocarbon deposits in the Eastern Mediterranean, policy regarding Syria, Cyprus, the Aegean, the Black Sea and the Caucasus.

Kilicdaroglu promised that big steps will be taken in the defense industry, as well as in foreign policy.

Erdogan – Kilicdaroglu meeting

Meeting of Erdogan, with his government partner, president of the Nationalist Action Devlet Bakhceli, took place on Wednesday as reported by Manolis Kostidis. The meeting lasted over an hour.

The elections on May 14 were discussed. Probably on Friday it will be officially announced that they will be held on the original date set before the devastating and deadly earthquakes in early February.

In the shadow of the agreement of the “bloc of six” of the opposition that highlighted Kemal Kilicdaroglu as Erdoğan’s opponent in the elections, but also of the opinion polls showing Kilicdaroglu the winner of the elections, the two men seem to be looking for new allies from small Islamic parties.
