Her children Doras Bakoyannis, Alexia and Kostas, “opened” her keynote speech, on Wednesday afternoon at the Mikis Theodorakis theater, in the Venetian Port of Chania.

They talked about their mother and each told a story that characterizes her.

“Fearless, brave, indomitable” Alexia called her, stressing with emotion: “You didn’t give up mom, in the face of any battle.” For what you believed in, you fought tooth and nail and at the same time, you never let us go”

“No matter how high she reached, her mind may have been in Brussels, Washington, Paris, London, Athens, but her heart was always here in Chania. Because one of the greatest lessons he taught us was that people must have roots, otherwise they cannot stand and are carried away by the first wind. Always remember who they are, where they’re from, where they step and what they’re doing,” said Kostas Bakoyannis, who even “gave a pass” to their mother, telling her to… come with me.

Dora Bakoyannis herself was moved and said at the beginning of her speech: “In all these years, my children have never spoken to me, so I have to tell you that I am a little out of breath, because lies are bad, they are what what is most precious to me”.
