Out of the electoral race, for the second time, was found imprisoned former Golden Dawn member of parliament Ilias Kasidiariswho attempted to pass the prohibitive provisions of the law, running for the upcoming elections as an independent.

The Supreme Court, A1 Department decided that Ilias Kasidiaris cannot participate in the June 25 election with the Coalition of Independent Candidates under the name Hellenes, in which he declared himself a candidate in the A of Athens.

The reasoning of the supreme judges, who judged Kasidiaris’ request for participation in the upcoming elections, was based on the admission that the Coalition of Independent Candidates, with candidates in many regions throughout the territory, was essentially a party formation under the leadership of Kasidiaris, that is, a party, and as therefore it conflicts with the prohibitive provisions of the recent legislative regulations.

Regarding the false inscription for the Coalition of Independent Candidates, both PASOK, which first asked the Supreme Court to ban Ilias Kasidiaris from participating in the elections, and New Democracy, which also submitted a relevant memorandum, had spoken in their memoranda.
And for this electoral contest, no memoranda were submitted against Kasidiaris’ participation in the elections by the main opposition party, as was done in the May 21 elections, as well as by other parties that move to the right of the political map, (Hellenic Solution, and Victory).

In parallel with the ban on Kasidiaris’ candidacy, the A1 Department of the Supreme Court declared all the parties, candidates and political formations that were judged to have no legality problems and therefore will participate in the upcoming elections. However, some small parties were cut off, which for one reason or another, did not even meet the conditions set by the law, and therefore could not even pass the relevant platform for participation in the elections, before they were even considered formal or substantive. issues from the Supreme Court.

It should be noted that also for the June 25 election, the legislation passed by New Democracy and Pasok was applied to ban the participation in the elections of convicted, former political executives of AXA, who are serving prison terms, like Ilias Kasidiaris, for the crime of directing and participating in a criminal organization.

Which party does Elias Kasidiaris support?

With a statement through the lawyer of Vasilikis Pantazis, after the decision of the Supreme Court not to participate in these elections, Ilias Kasidiaris asserted that he will electorally support the nationalist party “Spartiates” which submitted an application to participate in the elections and was declared.
As his advocate mentioned, “friends, fans and Ilias Kasidiaris himself will support the “Spartans” because the Spartans have always been the ones who fought for the homeland and freedom”.
