The hard poker between the USA and Turkey continues for the granting of the new F-16s and the modernization of the old ones that the neighboring country has.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbulthere are scenarios circulating in Turkey that want the US to ask Turkey to grant some of the old Turkish F-16s to Ukraine, in order to give the “green light” for the deal.

As Cetiner Cetin, Coordinator for Security Policies, stated in his analysis:

“America may try to delay us a little longer, but I think that some points in the American backroom discussions, especially in the Pentagon, are not acceptable at this time. But we may come across such an offer:

Turkey should give its old F16s to Ukraine, we should [σσ. οι ΗΠΑ] to give new F16 to Turkey’. Turkey should not fall into this trap, because Poland gave its old Russian aircraft to Ukraine, that is, if you remember, when the first war started, no one wanted to give aircraft to Ukraine. Now Ukraine is looking for F-16. And some of the F16s in Turkey are old. These are the aircraft that are on the agenda for modernization.

If there is a response, from the USA, the countries of the European Union or the countries of NATO, something like this may come because the Pentagon is also trying to warm it up. This will complicate our position in the balance between Russia and Ukraine. Turkey will not fall into the trap, I don’t think Turkey will pay much attention to this game, but it is necessary to be careful at this point.”

Turkish analysts: The US presence in Alexandroupolis and the islands are a threat to Turkey

At the same time, Turkish analysts continue to comment on the presence of the US in Alexandroupoli, asking questions such as: “If we attack Greece with a ground operation, will we find the US in front of us?”

Abdullah Agar, a military analyst and professor at Bahcesehir University, said in his analysis on a television show:

“The picture we have with Greece is clear. Greece with the military base in Alexandroupoli, with the Souda base, with its military presence in Cyprus with its presence in the Aegean islands and their militarization, is trying to gain a position at the front in favor of its own interests and in a cunning way exploits the tension that Turkey has with the West. This is dangerous. The question I want to ask is what will happen if the HIMARS tactical missile systems are installed in these places, as in Cyprus, and we are attacked. If we try to hurt them, will we have hurt the US? And another question is if the Greeks attempt to attack us from the islands or from the Aegean, and when we attempt a land attack against us will we find the Americans?”

Turkish admiral: The USA turned Alexandroupolis from a port into a military base

In another analysis on a television network, retired admiral Jihad Yayji argued: “Alexandroupoli was a port and turned into a military base. The US also took advantage of NATO and turned Alexandroupolis into a military base. We say this because all the weapons systems that were transferred there belong to the USA. Also the US ambassador along with other ambassadors such as Bulgaria, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania and toured the base. Alexandroupolis. In the last two years, the head of the CIA has visited this area. CIA director William Burns visited the site again two years ago. What concerns Turkey is that a significant percentage of the weapons and weapon systems that arrived in the region were granted to Greece. Like chariots. combat aircraft, attack helicopters and armored fighting vehicles’.

Meeting of Turkey’s National Security Council

In the meantime, the National Security Council of Turkey met for the first time after the elections, with Manolis Kostidis announcing that for the first time there was no mention of Greece, the Aegean, Cyprus and the Southern Mediterranean!
