“At today’s New Democracy briefing, Mr. Skertsos continued the extremely dangerous game with the Muslim minority of Thrace. The representative of the ND did not hesitate to characterize SYRIZA as a “national exception”, resurrecting the divisive toxicity of the post-civil war years”, says the press representative of SYRIZA-PS in her statement.

Ms. Tsapanidou also accuses Mr. Skertsos of “persisting on the pre-election instrumentalization of the EYP, as well as targeting the minority” and “in fact went so far as to denounce the meeting of Alexis Tsipras with acting Prime Minister Yannis Sharma, a self-evident institutional meeting in every democratic state”.

The representative of SYRIZA argues that “once again in recent Greek history, the Right is selling nationalism while in practice it serves Turkish propaganda” and that “the continued misery with the minority is a foretaste of what will mean the day after the elections, an uncontrolled almighty New Democracy”.

“We make it clear in the most categorical way”, underlines Ms. Tsapanidou, “we are not going to take a step back. Against the attempt to urbanize Greece, SYRIZA is the guarantor of democracy. The fear will not pass.”
