Former Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis was welcomed at noon on Monday by Apostolos Tzitzikostas, at the Central Macedonia Region Service Building on 26th October Street.

According to grtimes.gr, Mr. Tzitzikostas initially gave Mr. Karamanlis a tour of the renovated building that will house the Regional Council of Central Macedonia, while afterwards the two men had a meeting in the District Governor’s office on the 4th floor.

During the the former prime minister personally congratulated Mr. Tzitzikostas for his re-election at the helm of the Region of Central Macedonia, while Mr. Tzitzikostas informed him about the most important projects that are underway in the Region.

Much of the discussion, which lasted about an hour, it referred to the works for the new seafront, which are expected to start in 2024.

The District Governor reportedly said to the former prime minister that “ Karamanlis, in order to be interested in and help his country, does not need to have a parliamentary seat and this is shown by his visit”.

It should be noted that in the afternoon the former prime minister will speak in the hall of the Society of Macedonian Studies, at the presentation of the book “Javol! Blood, Forgetfulness and Subjugation” by Giorgos Harvalias about the unknown Greco-German history, with the subject of Germany’s role in the past and present vis-à-vis Europe, Greece and Turkey, as well as the open chapter of war reparations.

The presentation of the book published by Pedio publications will take place on Monday, October 23, at 7 pm, in the hall of the Society of Macedonian Studies.

The book will also be discussed by:

  • Maria Negreponti-Delivani, former rector of PAMAC
  • Nikos Vassiliadis, assistant professor of Modern and Contemporary History, Department of International and European Studies, PAMAK
  • Vassilis Viliardos, economist and writer

Greetings will be addressed by the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, and the President of the Society of Macedonian Studies, Vassilis Pappas.
