Post-response of the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, to the homophobic comments of the regional governor of the North Aegean, Kostas Moutzouris.

“Unfortunately, there is also this Greece – Mouzouris of Europe. The duty of all progressive Greeks is not to feel weak in the face of vulgarity, not to feel less than, not to feel defeated.

The modern Greece of tomorrow will defeat hatred, irony, regression. I will always be at the forefront of the battle for equality, for inclusion, for justice, for meritocracy, for modernization and for progress” Stefanos Kasselakis wrote in X.

At an open event a few days ago in a beach tavern on Lesbos, to celebrate his re-election in the North Aegean Region, Kostas Moutzouris called Stefanos Kasselakis a “swagger” and a “backslider”, provoking the ironic comments of those present.

More specifically he said: “A new season begins now, a new regional beginning. We’ll be fine. We will help them all if we can. And we will cooperate with everyone. And with New Democracy and with PASOK and with SYRIZA… with everyone. They are parties that the people vote for.”

Then one of the attendees asked: “And with Kasselakis?”, with Kostas Mouzouris answering “Kunistra is him! It’s a bit backwards!’
