The positive narrative of government policy and actions is chosen by Megaro Maximos and Piraeus to promote in the final stretch towards the European elections, provoking comparison with the toxicity and fake news of the opposition, as commented by government officials.

This message was also broadcast by Kyriakos Mitsotakis himself, speaking in Florina shortly before completing his tour of Western Macedonia. “We can do it, we will do it, I have no doubt about it. On the night of June 9 there will be a big winner. We will close our ears to all those who are drowning the political life of the country in toxicity and lies ” emphasized the prime minister. Moreover, as the time for the opening of the ballot box is running out, he puts the opposition parties and their tactics against him, stressing that “they present a black and spidery Greece, a country that allegedly has democratic governance issues. Greece has the its problems but it is a country that is in much better shape in 2024 than it was in 2019 and in 2027 it will be in even better shape,” he said.

The central axis of the government’s policy is the economy and its improvement with a direct impact on the lives of citizens and their daily lives, and in this context it also moves in the run-up to the elections, adding at this juncture an additional step to its efforts in this direction: the European initiative of Greek prime minister to put a stop to the profiteering tactics of the multinationals in our country with his letter to the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. A move that found receptive ears in Brussels, as the European Commission welcomes the letter of Kyriakos Mitsotakis “as a contribution to the overall reflection on the future of the single market” and emphasizes that it will respond in due time. According to a representative of the Commission, the Greek Prime Minister’s letter contributes to the overall reflection on the future of the single market, stressing that the Commission remains committed to removing unjustified regulatory and non-regulatory barriers to ensure the best functioning of the single market.

From Florina, Kyriakos Mitsotakis referred to the initiative he undertook, highlighting at the same time that through the refusal of the opposition in Greece to support the said initiative, an “absurdity” of the internal political confrontation is revealed. “The Commission answers: ‘yes, you are right about this, we have to do something’ and the opposition comes and criticizes us because we are asking Europe to help us with a problem that is recognized as European,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Government officials, commenting on the opposition’s tactics, along with the lack of concrete and costed proposals, as they say, argue that “by giving everything to everyone and with left trees, accuracy is not dealt with”. On the contrary, the economic program of the ND, which in a difficult international situation, bore fruit and minimized the effects of the crises that hit the country and Europe in recent years and the effort continues. In the crowns and big promises of its political opponents, the ND government insists and is still looking for solutions, with a practical impact on the citizens, following all the interventions that started from the previous period of government and continue until the last economic goal is achieved which was set with the ND program, with the four-year term ending in 2027.
