“There will be interventions in the tax system of freelancers” – What he said about the developments in the Center-Left
“The resounding message of the European elections was that a very significant percentage of ND voters moved to abstention”, pointed out the Minister of State, Makis Voridis Monday morning.
Speaking to and to “Today“, Mr. Voridis commented on the prime minister’s immediate decision to reshaping, characterizing it as an optional but necessary change, one that needs a response from the government to what the citizens told it. In fact, the minister identified the causes of people’s indignation in taxation, the treatment of accuracy and the political behavior of certain persons, for which the restructuring was an answer.
“The change in the Ministry of Development, the change in the minister responsible for tax policy, the change in the Ministry of the Interior and the change in the Ministry of Immigration actually symbolize these things,” the minister underlined, announcing point interventions in tax system of freelancers.
“Actually, the only thing that the opposition says is different from what we are doing is the reduction of VAT. This is not an ideological issue, after all, tax cuts are quintessentially liberal policy. We are just cautious about the effectiveness of this particular measure in the market. Don’t forget that when we did the same with the VAT on coffee, we didn’t see any substantial price reduction in the market. In any case, the Ministry of Development has a difficult job to do to be precise,” he added.
“Ministers who voted against the law on same-sex couples did not leave the government”
Afterwards, Mr. Voridis clarified that the reshuffle was not based on the attitude of some deputy ministers towards the law on same-sex couples, stating that “some who voted against got in and some other who voted against left, so it has nothing to do with it”.
At the same time, he expressed his optimism that the ND will win them elections of 2027 with self-reliance, emphasizing:
“We have 3 years ahead of us to implement our policy, the message of the European elections has been perceived by the government. I repeat, the Left has been ideologically defeated both in the country and in Europe on a number of issues such as immigration and taxation. This is the issue, not Kasselakis and Androulakis getting along. And if they find them, they must tell us what they will do, because they no longer like their agenda”.
