“The intentions of unionized doctors not to prescribe is an act of hostility towards patients, not towards the minister” said the health minister
“I have told the Parliament since the day before yesterday that I see no reason to implement this measure and I do not intend to issue the ministerial decision”, pointed out the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis speaking to ERT, referring to the legislation, which doctors will not have access to in electronic prescribing, if they do not cover on-calls in public hospitals, in barren areas.
He also added:
“The union mobilization by the Panhellenic Medical Association and the local associations – who have asked private GPs not to prescribe electronically, if it were to succeed, would mean a great deal of inconvenience to patients. It is a hostile action towards the patients, not towards the minister.”
Mr. Georgiadis also explained:
“In the bill we have a number of provisions. We give more money to the doctors to go to the islands. We give more barren areas, bigger allowances. We make the environment much more attractive. We will finally have an attendance of doctors where we didn’t have until yesterday”.
He himself appealed to the doctors not to trouble the world as a whole. While he noted:
“I have come out in dozens of my speeches and say I respect doctors, I single them out, I consider them great.
They were annoyed that I said – he says – in a show that our state studied jamba.
For me, for Adonis Georgiadis I will say the same. The state gave me a hard time. I didn’t say that in a derogatory way.”
