“It is time to find common solutions to the demographics with social cohesion as a compass and direct application in our daily lives”, stressed the ND MEP, Fredis Beleris during his intervention in the Plenary of the European Parliament.

“The demographic crisis is a harsh reality faced by all the member states of the European Union without exception”, he said, underlining that “in 2070 Europe will represent only 4% of the world’s population”.

“We all recognize our common problem,” he continued and immediately added: “Now is the time to find common solutions. Solutions that will have immediate application in our daily lives and which will have social cohesion as a compass. Solutions that will support young couples, ensuring the necessary balance between work and personal life”.

As he said, “such policies have been promoted by the Greek government with the favorable housing loan programs “My Home 1 and 2″, but also with the presentation of the first National Demographic Action Plan with a ten-year horizon. All European societies must follow this path of long-term strategic planning. We also have this responsibility as members of the REGI Committee (s.s.: Regional Development Committee). To take initiatives aimed at strengthening the silver economy and regional development, so as to bring life back to our continent as a whole.”

“Now we must act. In order not to let our Europe “go out”, concluded Mr. Beleris.
