“The unilateral proclamation of the pseudo-state 41 years ago in the occupied territories of Cyprus is a flagrant violation of International Law and discrediting the international legal order”states the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its announcement on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the illegal declaration of the pseudo-state in Cyprus.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasizes that “the United Nations Security Council, with Resolutions 541/1983 and 550/1984, expressly condemned this action as illegal and void and called on all states to respect the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus, not to recognize, not to facilitate or in any way help this separatist entity”.

“Greece does not accept the fait accompli of the Turkish invasion and occupation. In solidarity with the Republic of Cyprus, it will contribute responsibly to finding a fair, sustainable, functional and mutually acceptable solution, within the framework of the decisions of the Security Council of the United Nations Organization and with full respect for the European acquis”.concludes the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
