According to Mr. Floridis, the submission of the bill will take place on the 9th of the month and on the 13th its discussion will begin in the competent committee of the Parliament
A multi-legislation that comes to strengthen the framework that protects the weak members of this society, mainly women and children, is what the Ministry of Justice is bringing to the Parliament in the coming days, pointed out the minister Mr. George Floridis, in the First Program.
“We are incorporating into our national law a recent European directive, which was published last May and which creates a network of protection mainly for women, in all aspects of social life. We are the first country to integrate it and at the same time complement with national provisions the existing framework on domestic violence, which has so far proven to be quite effective. But we considered that alongside the integration of the European directive, we must also complete the provisions of national law, so that we have, perhaps, the most complete legislation among the countries of Europe. So, in other words, the new provisions that are added lead to protecting people more effectively, that is, mainly women and children, because that is where we have the most cases, in a way that, as much as possible, we create safety conditionssaid the minister.
In the next few days, the government will finalize it, according to the plan, said Mr. Floridis and by order of the prime minister, as he typically said, who chairs the interministerial committees. “In the coming days, we will also finalize the framework for the protection of minors from tobacco and alcohol. These are a total grid, they are not piecemeal movementshe added.
As the minister said, they will “toughen things up” in the context of the most effective possible protection of minors on the Internet, “in cases where adults “fish” some minors, there things will get tougher, as well as for those who they do persistent monitoring and there will be the corresponding legislative regulation, while also for revenge pornography, things will get even tougher.
“They are also crimes, which do not exist now and we are legislating them. Now we make these. That is, we now constitute them as offences. It is not that we are tightening the penalties in existing provisions, it is that we are creating provisions that constitute illegal acts as crimes that are now prosecuted. The entire framework that we have and which worked to a significant extent throughout the previous period, this is now being supplemented by new national provisions and by the integration of the European directive that I mentioned. So as a rule we will build an even, let’s say advanced institutional framework, which of course never ends the effort to protect society. There are always phenomena that we don’t foresee or that are, after all, completely new, and there we always need to keep our eyes open to be able to interveneadded Mr. Floridis.
Serious criminal prosecutions are also coming in cases of neglect of minors, the minister then stressed. “There always the judge, when he has before him a parent, can treat it accordingly. In other words, he can see a person who missed something or he can see someone who is dangerous for children. There are two things there. That if you leave him, while his behavior is dangerous both for the children and for society, then the evil will continue to happen. There we must also have the parallel care of the state towards these childrensaid Mr. Floridis.
“I cannot speak specifically because in the next few days, maybe even this week, we will have a final meeting to come up with the specific measures, but the direction is to protect minors as much as possible from alcohol and tobacco. I can’t say anything before we conclude. As the preparation is currently developing, I know it will be a good, effective framework to protect minors» replied the minister when asked if smoking will be banned outdoors.
The planning, noted the minister, is for the submission of the bill to take place on the 9th of the month and on the 13th for its discussion to begin in the competent committee of the Parliament. So, by January it will be state law.
Mr. Floridis, referring to the loss of Kostas Simitis, said the following. “Let’s start with what I consider important to characterize a political leader, whether he belongs to the great or the minor. I think we should first agree on what we consider nationally big. So if we consider Greece to enter the Economic and Monetary Union and have the euro as its currency as nationally important goals and if we consider Cyprus to enter Europe as a major national goal, contrary to the decisions up to that point at the top level of the European Union, that Cyprus would not enter the European Union if it did not first solve its problem, if these are major national goals, then Kostas Simitis is entitled to belong to the category of major leaders, because he set these goals for them with clarity and clarity, served them with determination, and ultimately achieved them both. It is the goals that actually, especially the entry into the EMU, insured the country from too many big risks. a very large and powerful economic union and this helped Greece not to literally go back to the Middle Ages”.
