The president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, Sokratis Famellos, started his two-day tour in Thessaly from Vlochos, where he heard the problems of the flood victims of the region, who have remained without support from the government for almost 1.5 years.

Focusing on the immediate needs of the area, citizens highlighted the absence of land reclamation and anti-flooding projects, while complaining about delays in home inspections, which prevents residents from rebuilding their damaged properties.

The president of SYRIZA – PS reiterated the party’s commitment to stand by the citizens, noting the great responsibilities and omissions of the government.

After the conclusion of the meeting, Sokratis Famellos stated:

“We started our tour in Thessaly from Vlohos because SYRIZA – PS proves first of all that it is next to the problems and needs of the citizens of our country.

We have found that it is not enough that the government is largely responsible for the deficits in the infrastructure of flood protection and in general the management of water resources which are largely responsible for the problems created by Daniel, but we also have an abandonment for almost 1.5 years of area, since even the first issues, such as the embankments, have not been resolved.

We received a cry of anguish from the president, the citizens and the producers.

The embankments, which must proceed immediately.

The large hydraulic projects of flood prevention, which are stuck even at the level of assignments.

The major problems in the rehabilitation of housing and the deficits in housing inspections that prevent citizens even at their own expense from doing partial rehabilitation.

The serious issue of possible or not relocation that is pending and leaves the citizens confused.

Issues in rural road construction and land improvement projects.

Area school and health care issues.

They are matters of life.

And in the face of such a big problem of life and the anguish of the citizens, an answer is needed. The answer is that the state must be strong to support the citizens.

And today, with the government we have, unfortunately, the state is getting weaker and weaker.

The proposal of SYRIZA-PS is therefore simple: Politics gains its credibility when it makes the state strong and is close to the citizen. Mr. Mitsotakis cannot serve this”.
