Meeting with the Professor of Physics Lithosphere, Seismology & Applied Geophysics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, SYRIZA-PS President Socrates Famellos had a meeting to inform, as he said, “he said,”For all the evolution of the phenomenon of seismic tension in Santorini

“I want to say that the first requirement of all of us is to have a strong state, because the Ministry of Civil Protection and Climate Crisis was created for communication reasons by Mr Mitsotakis. So the first thing we will ask is to strengthen the state and the ministry, and to cooperate with the Greek scientific community, “S. Famellos said and continued:

“The second issue, which is very important, is that the seismic risk management plans should be completed in the area. Because there is a plan associated with Kameni, but this plan should be completed with the new scientific elements given by scientists. The third issue, which is very important, is that the state is required to take responsibility for the operation of an observatory of the Santorini volcano. And I believe that this should be done in collaboration with Local Government and with a funding commitment. So we make a stronger state, because all the measures that have been activated lately are to strengthen both society and the economy

I will be able to visit Santorini on Wednesday, and in this context are the meetings I do to find out and prepare suggestions. I must say that two issues are left from this preparation of the discussion. The first is that more respect for the scientific community is required. Listen to the scientists who have been offering the country for years, and many times the state did not support them as they should. And the second is that we must take all the necessary actions, not only those in civil protection plans, to support the economic and social functioning of the island and especially the younger generation.“, He underlined.

The meeting was also attended by associates of the SYRIZA-PS President and the Director of the Parliamentary Group, George Bakis.
