Speech by the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakou In the plenary discussion Parliament for the proposal against the government.

In detail, Mr. Theodorikakos’ speech:

“Ladies and gentlemen

The period we are going through is extremely critical to the course of our country, as we are in the midst of unprecedented international turmoil and tectonic changes in mankind while at the same time attempting some of a sharp political conflict and division inside.

With my speech I certainly address the parliament and the great social majority of measure and logic.

We have human, moral and political obligation to fully clarify the national tragedy of Tempi. We owe it to our 57 unmistakable compatriots, parents, relatives, their loved ones, to all who every day climb his own Calvary of pain every day.

We owe it to our history, to our democratic and institutional responsibility. We owe it especially to the younger generation, which must feel that we hear and respect it, and we are determined as tangible proof of justice and respect to do everything to correct years of mistakes and weaknesses and not allow any similar tragedy to be repeated.

In this universal request, our lineup and the government respond without reservations and doubts. We went from the beginning with the truth agreement and we will not leave behind this task of truth.

The truth is a prerequisite for trust, we do not conceal anything because there is nothing to conceal. And if things are different one should prove it with elements not with slander and misery.

Justice is not hate. Justice is not witch hunt. Justice is not the adoption of any irrational slander.

In the motion of censure, four parties are talking about the prime minister’s human life indifferent to human life.

How can it be indifferent to the loss of human lives or serious problems the prime minister who first fought in Europe to save human lives during the pandemic period by closing the Greek economy.

How can the prime minister be indifferent who, with his own perseverance, became “112”, saving lives in the thousands of fires that have been encountered over the years.

Ladies and gentlemen

You have submitted a motion of censure not to contribute to truth and justice and explain.

First, you stopped in the middle the debate on the level of leaders on the tragedy of Tempi. This is unprecedented.

Secondly, if the proposal was passing and the government was falling and we were going to the elections the whole process of investigating and the pre -trial committee we voted would go far behind.

What do you think of the two?

You know that you have been depositing the motion of censure from the safe. The unity of ND MPs is a rejuvenation and your proposal has no luck.

Therefore, the motion of censure is a communicative party tactic, taken from the distant past, a product of endless compromises, which is blamed for party and intra -party reasons for the truth.

Dear PASOK colleagues, you work with those who did not hesitate to blow the country in the air in 2015 to attack the ND with which you worked- and rightly- to get the country out of bankruptcy and crisis.

You have a serious political problem of strategy and identity and I believe you will regret your choice, which is absolutely unable, and this was evident from the way the MPs themselves treated it.

Ladies and gentlemen

As important as the case is fully explored, it is so important for Greece to move safely in a dramatic world, a world facing tectonic changes, great dangers and unprecedented challenges. Especially in our troubled area with the known problems with our neighbors we have managed for decades.

Today it is more than ever necessary for our society to be united and to end the cultivated division.

The division only leads to tragedies. These are lessons in Greek history that no one has the right to forget.

This presupposes at the same time the demand of justice, but also not to endanger the basic coordinates of our course, guaranteed by the policy and work of this government and the great efforts and sacrifices of the Greek people over the past years.

Wherever one belongs, the reality is that this government has achieved fiscal stability, it reduced unemployment from 18% to 9%, making it the most important social policy, because this is an increase in employment. It secured growth rates of at least 2%, reduced taxes and contributions, advanced the border and dealt with illegal immigration, gave and fought hard to limit the cost of living.

In the last four months we have succeeded in having zero or negative inflation in food and basic living types, in any case the smallest in the eurozone. Serious changes and reforms are implemented in basic areas of social and economic life.

We have to keep the country’s trajectory steady, with a robust, cohesive national strategy in the ever -changing environment in which we live.

The main component must be the strong, timeless, strategic relationship with the US -and in the EU and independently.

At the same time, we must move forward by making our strategy for the new productive model we have jointly presented with the prime minister with a focus on productive investment, industry, innovation and new technologies.

All that is the essence of the new development law we are directly establishing and prioritized the border areas, the treatment of social inequalities, the regional inequalities between the geographical apartments of our country and the acute demographic problem. Thus increasing the durability and safety of our country.

For 2025 and 2026, € 900 million will be given to large investment regimes, investment in border areas and processing.

We strengthen the industry and invest in quality strategy to increase the competitiveness of our economy with the aim of reducing the trade deficit deficit.

We link research to production. We are rebuilding the research area to have more transparency and accountability. An area that has not come under Parliament’s microscope but we need to highlight much more.

We are promoting reforms to ensure healthy competition and consumer protection, as we did with information initiatives through the e-Katanalotis platform, the barrier to exorbitant increases in insurance policies, the ceiling on professional rents and powerful market controls, with increased fines.

We walk with a fixed compass. ND is a great popular line that always listens to the Greek people. We treat in a decisive way the miserable attacks, slander, waves of irresponsibility that sow an unnecessary division.

We move forward with unity, with the responsibility and implementation of the policies needed for the safety of our citizens and our homeland in difficult times, to make the economic development of all Greeks with no exceptions and discrimination.

We continue forward and make a strong, productive and safe Greece with Greek society. “
