An autopsy, on the plot of AGNO, which was characterized as a green area by a recent decision of the Central Council of Urban Issues and Disputes (KESYPO.THA), was carried out by the Deputy Minister of Interior, responsible for Macedonia and Thrace Mr. Stavros Kalafis and the Secretary General of Spatial Planning and Urban Environment of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Mr. Efthymios Bakogiannis.
After the autopsy, Mr. Kalafatis stressed:
“I gladly accept the thanks of the administration of the Municipality of Pavlos Melas to the government of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, for the solution of another serious and chronic problem that occupied the region.
With the intervention of the Government, through the approval of the competent body, the Central Council, it solves another key issue: It opens the way, characterizing as green space the old factory of AGNO, an area of ​​about 16 acres. It is a very important development in a thorny issue.
And not only that:
It is the solution to the issue of Meteora, where for 48 years more than 400 families were suffering.
These are the important developments in the renovation of the Metropolitan Park of Pavlos Melas.
It is the General Urban Plan of Efkarpia.
All this is practical evidence that the Macedonia and Thrace Sector of the Ministry of Interior, the Government and personally the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, are interested in solving vital problems in the region. We are moving forward with solving problems of western Thessaloniki – and not only “.
For his part, Mr. Bakoyannis pointed out:
“It is a pending issue which is completed, after a time-consuming process that was followed, thanks to the very close cooperation of the Ministry of Environment, the Macedonia and Thrace Sector of the Ministry of Interior and the Municipality of Pavlos Melas.
As I mentioned in the Council, the Ministry of Environment and the Sector of Macedonia – Thrace, have repeatedly examined issues concerning the Municipality of Pavlos Melas, giving solutions and trying to upgrade the structured environment of the region.
The General Urban Plan defined the use as central functions. With the point modification that was made, it was restored in a green area. In the coming years, when the necessary procedures are completed, the Municipality will have the opportunity to turn it into a green lung “.
