Gary Neville is “worried” that “Manchester United” are even behind their Premier League rivals after the late start of the summer transfer window.

Manchester City and Liverpool have strengthened their team with the acquisition of Arling Holland and Darwin Núñez, but United have not yet entered the market.

Having left Dutch champions Ajax, Ten Heg, who signed a three-year deal at Old Trafford, wants to strengthen his squad at various positions, adding more than $100m to the new additions he has to spend.

Manchester United are interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Ajax defender Julian Timber, but both deals appear stalled.

Neville is concerned about his previous club’s inaction and says that if the deal closes after the transfer window, it will be difficult for Ten Hag to succeed next season.

“As I know at the start of the window, I am concerned that United are fighting to end the deal,” the Old Trafford legend wrote on Twitter.

“Others look ready, but United can’t move. Eric Ten Hag needs his team as soon as possible to form them. His late arrival is just that. It just complicates! Fingers crossed it will happen soon!”

Manchester United endured a frustrating 2021-22 season under Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, finishing sixth in the Premier League, 13 and 35 points behind champions Manchester City.

United confirmed last week that 11 players – Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanya Matic and Juan Mata – left Old Trafford after their contracts expired.

At Manchester United’s first press conference, Ten Hag confirmed that United’s pre-season schedule will start on June 27.

“First, we have a break,” said a 52-year-old woman. “We will start the preseason on June 27 and we will get some individual players from the team.

“Not all the players will come [on 27 June]Because I play longer this season, people who play international games will have longer breaks. “

Asked if he plans to oversee the review this summer, Ten Hag said: “In some positions I want to renew my team, but as I said a year ago, this team is second in the league. Rice field.

“So it’s possible and I’m really looking forward to working with the team.”

Manchester United take on Brighton on August 7 in the 2022-23 Premier League season and take on Brentford, Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City in early September.
