With the initiative of the British Embassy in Athens and the immediate response of the Hellenic Badminton Federation, friendly matches between athletes from England, Ukraine and Greece will take place on Tuesday in the indoor gym of Pefki.
The Hummersknott Badminton Club association, which in recent years has been holding annual international meetings, expressed its interest in visiting Greece and this wish was fulfilled with great joy by all the organizations.
A total of 66 athletes, including four Ukrainians, will participate in the friendly match. It is noted that four Ukrainian young athletes symbolically participate in the Hummersknott Club team. These are children who have settled in the UK with their families as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The association wanted to express its support to all Ukrainian citizens in this way.
The British Ambassador, Matthew Lodge, will attend the match for a short time, while the Ukrainian Ambassador, Sergii Shutenko, and the Mayor of Lykovrysi-Pefkis, Anastasios Mavridis, may also attend.
Of course, the Head of the Hummersknott Badminton Club, Philip Boyle, as well as the President of the Hellenic Badminton Federation, Ioannis Kapos, will also be present.
