A big derby will “open the curtain” of the 2022-23 season in the Handball Premier, as AEK and Olympiacos/Omilos Xyni will face each other in the first matchday, as it emerged from today’s draw held at the OHE offices. It is recalled that Union and Piraeus “dueled” in last year’s finals of the championship held in Chalkida, with the “red and whites” winning 3-1 and being crowned champions. The premiere of A1 men’s handball is scheduled for September 17 and the derby of the first round will be held at the headquarters of “Dikefalos”.
It is reminded that in the new season of A1 men’s handball, 12 teams participate, with each of them facing all the others at home and away (22 matches). After the end of the A’ phase, the last two teams in the standings are relegated to A2, while the first four in the standings continue in the playoffs, where they face each other in the semi-finals (1-4, 2-3) in the two wins to qualify for the final. The two teams that qualify for the finals will “duel” the three wins for the champion’s trophy, with the season scheduled to be completed by May 30, 2023.
