Manchester United announce the signing of Casemiro, holder of the Brazilian national team

Manchester United announced this Friday (19) that it has reached an agreement for the signing of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, 30, from Real Madrid.

According to the English press, the club will pay 60 million euros (R$ 311 million at the current price), but the amount can reach 70 million euros (R$ 363.30 million) according to productivity clauses.

The contract has not yet been signed, but that should happen until the beginning of next week, when the player will undergo medical examinations and travel to Manchester. Depending on the granting of the work visa, his debut could take place on the 27th, against Southampton, away from home, in the Premier League.

The contract period was not disclosed. Also according to British journalists, the negotiation was for a four-year deal with an option for one more, to be decided by the player.

Casemiro was the option to fill the main gap in Manchester United’s squad: a defensive midfielder with a good pass. Dutch coach Erik ten Hag’s biggest priority was his compatriot Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona. But despite the Spanish team’s desperation to sell him and balance the bills, he has so far refused to leave, as the club owes him €17m in unpaid wages.

Casemiro is also a response from the managers to the furious fans, outraged by United’s inaction in the transfer market, especially in the most needy positions, and with the campaign at the beginning of the season.

The team enters the field this Monday (22) to face Liverpool, their biggest rival, as lantern in the English league. They have lost their two matches so far and, in the last one, they were thrashed by Brentford 4-0.

“Real Madrid and Manchester United have reached an agreement on the transfer of the player Carlos Henrique Casemiro. Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection for Casemiro, a player who is already part of the history of this club”, said goodbye to the Spanish club in your social networks.

In Madrid, Casemiro won 17 titles in eight years. Five of them were from the Champions League. He arrived at the club in 2013, bought from São Paulo, but between 2014 and 2015 he was loaned to Porto-POR.

Right name on Tite’s squad list for this year’s World Cup, he was a starter at the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
