In the first game of Group D, Denmark and Tunisia were also drawn from zero to zero. The selections even managed to score a goal each, both annulled for offside. The duel also marked the first narration by a woman in the World Cup on open TV, with Renata Silveira, on Globo.
France vs Australia
France, despite the initial scare, when, out on the pitch, they conceded a goal from Australia, turned around and started defending the title with a 4-1 rout. After being taken to Qatar for the reserve bench, Giroud scored two. The French team had more chances to score than the Australians, with 7 and 1 respectively.
