The five-day seminar of the top French fencing coach was funded by the EOE through the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity development program and, in fact, covered all expenses for the provincial coaches as well.
The Greek coaches who took part in the seminar acquired valuable resources that they can now apply to the training of their clubs, in order to raise the level of their athletes. In their account, they emphasized the French meter’s emphasis on hard, systematic work, but also on small technical details.
For his part, Mr. Levavasseur was particularly pleased with the result, praised the passion of the participants for the sport and for the knowledge they gained and wished to meet again in the future. He mentioned that the door of his academy in France is always open for Greek coaches.
On Friday, the last day of the seminar, the attendance diplomas were given to the coaches, in the presence of the president of EOX, Ioannis Lignou, the General Secretary of EOX, Anestis Kostidis, and the members of the Federation’s Board of Directors, Iris Vlahoutsikou and Ilias Didaskalou.
The president of the World Fencing Federation and member of the EOE, Manolis Katsiadakis, graced the event with his presence, while the leading Greek fencer, Despina Georgiadou, along with her coach, Christos Saini, also attended.
At the end of the event, EOX awarded meter Levavasseur for his contribution to fencing with a golden wreath.
