Paulo André, Ronaldo’s trusted name, is announced by Cruzeiro

Cruzeiro announced, this Thursday (23), that Paulo André and Gabriel Lima will be responsible for the transition in the administration of the club, which now has Ronaldo Nazário as manager of its SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol).

Both are trusted professionals of the Phenomenon. Former defender Paulo André played alongside Ronaldo at Corinthians. As a manager, he worked for Athletico and heads the sports strategy area of ​​Valladolid, a second division club in Spain and also managed by Ronaldo.

Paulo André will be responsible for Cruzeiro’s football department. Alexandre Mattos, who until then was set to take the job and was already working behind the scenes, was not in the new investor’s plans and was fired.

Gabriel Lima, with a degree in administration and business director at Valladolid, will be responsible for the strategic planning and for an accounting, financial and legal audit of the Minas Gerais club. This transition process will take approximately 120 days.

According to a statement from the club, the baton will also have the law firm BMA – Barbosa, Müssnich & Aragão, responsible for conducting the legal audit, XP Investimentos, for support in the financial restructuring, in addition to Alvarez & Marsal and Rioscom. The latter will act, together with Cruzeiro’s communications, in the relationship with the press.

Revealed in the celestial team, Ronaldo announced, on Saturday (18), the purchase of 90% of the shares of SAF Cruzeiro.

The team from Minas is experiencing a serious financial crisis, with debts estimated at R$ 1 billion and, in 2022, it will compete in the B Series of the Brazilian Nationals for the third consecutive season.

For the deal, Ronaldo will make contributions in the total amount of R$ 400 million. Of this amount, R$ 100 million will be used to reduce the most urgent debts, such as the transfer ban, applied by FIFA and which prevents the club from registering reinforcements.
